In 2022, Derbyshire County Council’s Education Data Hub launched a funded a two-year cyber security project aimed at improving cyber resilience in LA maintained schools. This was to be achieved through user awareness, cyber security training for all school staff and governors, a comprehensive assessment of each individual school’s cyber security posture, and provision of a gap analysis report and action plan when mapped against the DfE Cyber Security Standards for Schools and Colleges. Now, approaching the end of the project, we will be looking at:

• Cyber resilience in the education sector
• Changing the security culture in already overburdened schools
• The efficacy of live vs recorded cyber security training
• The main barriers to risk mitigation in cash strapped establishments
• Recommendations to others looking to improve cyber resilience on a shoestring budget
