About our Speaker

Dr Andrea Cullen

I started as a coder after leaving school which I loved. After a career break and 4 children I completed a degree in Computer Science and Management and after a PhD in Operations. Following this, I have worked in cyber for over 20 years across a number of roles. I was an academic at the University of Bradford, where I designed and developed one of the first MSc Cyber Security degrees in the UK. I also worked as a consultant and a cyber SME for KPMG. Most recently I am a Co-founder of CAPSLOCK, an award-winning cyber security bootcamp. CAPSLOCK was founded in 2019, and started by raising investment of approximately £1m to support its launch in 2021. With a focus on removing barriers to career changing education, so far CAPSLOCK has reskilled over 1000 learners from incredibly diverse backgrounds.

I was recently awarded full membership to the Chartered Institute of Information Security and am passionate about supporting female founders and helping the cyber industry become a more diverse place to learn and work.
